What advice would you give to a newlywed couple on how to maintain a strong relationship in the "later years"?
Don't forget to spend time together throughout your marriage. Date nights and get-away's are as important 5, 10, 20, 30 years down the road as they were when you get married. Find something you can do together that you both enjoy. Even if it is taking a walk around the block or going to dinner; just spend quality time. Talk about something besides kids and grand-kids. Set goals together and plan for the future. Laugh together, work together, play together, and pray together.

After the children are gone how you maintain a strong relationship with your spouse?
You go on date nights each week and spend time together. We attend the temple together. We are best friends, so we enjoy spending time together. We discuss plans and issues with which we are concerned. One’s spouse should come first above the children and yourself. When you take care of each other and put their needs above yours, you can maintain a strong loving relationship. We continue having Family Home Evening and spend as much time together as we can. We also share the housework and life the other’s burdens. Charity begins at home.

No matter how many years you gave been married you need always to support one another, cheer for one another, spend time with each other, but take time to talk to each other honestly and with love. Remember to pray daily, your own prayers and as a couple!"

How does marriage change over time? How do you keep it strong and healthy?
When children come life gets more demanding. Sometimes it is difficult to focus on the husband and his needs. Hopefully, the husband will understand and help with the children. How do you keep it strong and healthy? Be unselfish. Don’t criticize your husband, rather build him up. Remember, you catch more flies with honey rather than vinegar.
